Aeruginosins are a group of tetrapeptides which are isolated from cyanobacteria. Like other cyanotoxins, aeruginosins inhibit serine/threonine protein phosphates. Aeruginosins decrease in endothelia cells the levels of IL-8 and ICAM-1 and inhibit NF-KB activity as well. Aeruginosins may also exhibit antithrombotic activity by binding to thrombin.
