Deoxycholic acid is a bile acid which emulsifies and solubilizes dietary fats in the intestine. And it is a secondary bile acid produced by intestinal bacteria acting on primary bile acids secreted by the liver. It can prevent and dissolve gallstones. In mesotherapy to produce lipolysis (eg, as non-surgical treatment of lipoma). When injected subcutaneously, it disrupts cell membranes in adipoc ytes and destroys fat cells in that tissue.
