Infections due to antibiotic-resistant enterobacteria are a worldwide cause of morbidity and mortality. Moreover, the interest in developing new antibiotics by the pharmaceutical industry is declining due to high development costs and the ability of bacteria to evolve quickly and thus overcome antibiotic action. As AbR genes disseminate mostly by conjugation, we proposed a new strategy to control AbR dissemination before infection, targeting AbR plasmid conjugation. Tanzawaic acid E could be an interesting research molecule to test against AbR.
