Molybdenum is, in its pure form, a
silver-coloured glossy so-called transition metal. Molybdenum is used in
various stainless steel alloys for the hardening and catalysis (acceleration)
of redox reactions (reduction / oxidation reactions). Since molybdenum is
temperature-resistant and cannot be attacked by non-oxidizing acids, it is
often used to manufacture acid-resistant stainless steels and nickel materials.
