Ochratoxin A – 50th birthday

Ochratoxin A was discovered 1969 in South Africa, as a toxic metabolite of Aspergillus ochraceus from corn meal intentionally inoculated with said microfungus (Van der Merwe, 1965). Prompt after this first discovery, naturally occuring Ochratoxin A was isolated from a commercial corn sample in the USA (Shotwell et al., 1969). Also in 1969 (van Walbeek et al., 1969) isolated OTA from Penicillium verrucosum.

Besides Ochratoxin A we supply the most common mycotoxin standards as well as standard solutions.
