Etoposide is a cytotoxic anticander drug. Etoposide belongs to the group of the topoisomerase inhibitors. Etoposide forms a ternary complex with DNA and the topoisomerase II enzyme, which unwinds DNA. Besides this it prevents re-ligation o fthe DNA strands and by doing so causes DNA strand break.
