Ginseng and its ginsenosides

Stroke, Alzheimer´s disease, Parkinson disease, major depression and multiple sclerosis. Diseases where science is still investigating treatment possibilities – Ginseng could be a solution.

It belongs to one of the oldest traditional herbal medicines, known for over 2000 years as anti-anxiety, antidepressant and cognition enhancing. The ginseng root includes more than 60 ginsenosides, e.g. Rb1, Rb2, Rb3, Rc, Rd, Re, Rg1, Rg2, and Rg3, which act as bioactive ingredients.

A recently published review by Wei-Yi Ong et al. describes the protective effects of ginsenosides on those neurological disorders. It becomes evident that ginsenosides act neuroprotective by reducing free radicals and enhancing brain functions. The authors hope to enhance the interest in more studies focused on its efficacy in treating neurological problems.

Cfm Oskar Tropitzsch GmbH provides both Panax ginseng and several of its ginsenosides.
